June 20, 2012 - Dental Veneers are layers of Porcelain or Composite bonded to a tooth. These laminates cover the side of the tooth that would be visible in the smile. They can change the size, color, shape and length of teeth. Veneers can also fix crowded teeth and gaps.

The two different matterials that can be used to make a dental veneer can both look very aesthetic, the porcelain will maintain it's aesthetics for much longer than the composite varaiety. However the composite veneer can be done in one sitting. Both will transmit light in a way similar to enamel, so they look very real and lifelike. Depending on the situation, a single veneer may be done and match the exsisting teeth, or multiple veneers can have a very nice effect.

Porcelain Veneers take a couple appointments. A consultation/exam to find out if your a good candidate. The second appointment the teeth are modified and an impression is taken. It is this impression that will facilitate the creation of the veneers. At the end of this appointment provisional Veneers (Temporaries) will be made to get through the next two weeks while the lab is doing their work. The last appointment is sometimes broken in to two appointments, there is a shade check (and if everything looks good, and the patient is happy) then the veneers are bonded in place.

Dental Veneers can give many years of aesthetics service, improving your smile and self confidence.
